Not One, Two or Three Times. But Six Times in a Row.
It is with great pleasure to announce that I have been named to the 2020 Super Lawyers list yet again. For six years in a row,
Super Lawyers has recognized my high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Only five percent of lawyers in each state receive the honor of being selected as a Super Lawyer, and only seven other attorneys in Florida earned this recognition for the sixth consecutive time. I’m humbled to be one of those people.
Why Does This Matter?
Super Lawyers, owned by Thomson Reuters, is a valued rating service that utilizes a rigorous ranking process to devise an exclusive list of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas. Legal professionals and potential clients depend on Super Lawyers to identify and display high-ranking attorneys by practice area and location.
It’s not easy to be listed in Super Lawyers because attorneys themselveshave zero roles in the selection process. No one can “pay their way in.” The process begins with nominations from peers or identification from the Super Lawyers research department. Then, it proceeds to the independent research phase, in which lawyers are evaluated on 12 indicators of peer
recognition and professional achievement:
- Verdicts/settlements
- Transactions
- Representative Clients
- Experience
- Honors/awards
- Special licenses/certifications
- Position within the law firm
- Bar and/or professional activity
- Pro bono and community service
- Scholarly lectures/writings
- Education/employment background
- Other outstanding achievements
The third step in the selection process is peer evaluation by practice area, otherwise known as the “blue ribbon review” which consists of candidates with the highest point totals from the first two steps. These candidates are given a list of lawyers from their own practice area to examine and rate. Lastly, those with the highest points from each of the four categories (organized by firm size) are chosen as winners.
