Rapper Trick Daddy, real name Maurice Young, negotiated a plea deal with prosecutors at the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office for his arrest on cocaine possession and DUI charges last January. The terms of the plea required accepting the cocaine possession charge, being sentenced to time served in jail (one day), a criminal conviction for the felony, and a dismissal of the DUI charge. Miami-Dade Circuit Court case number F-20-00630. There’s a bit more to it than that, however. Trick made a sizable contribution to Camillus House homeless shelter in return for dismissal of the DUI charge.
According to court records, Trick Daddy has a previous felony conviction for Possession of a Firearm by A Convicted Felon (Case Number: F-03-005649)
While Trick tried to play the celebrity card during the traffic stop “don’t you know who I am?”, Miami-Dade Police officers weren’t impressed and attempted put him through the paces of roadside sobriety examinations. Trick gave up during the walk and turn exercise, stating “I can’t do this anyway”, which for many people is an actual thing. There are 145 ways that a driver could “fail” the test. The roadside sobriety exercises are designed for failure and are difficult to perform under the most ideal circumstances. Trick did admit to consuming five drinks earlier in the evening.
